Finding good music is tough. Tons of music released every day (and so many hidden gems from the past!).

But. Different recommendation systems can lead to very different results.

• Systems based on prediction and user-platform interactions are inertial by nature.
• They might be great for chasing a mood, but not at leading to genuine, sustained, life-changing musical discoveries.

• Our recommendation system is driven purely by musical factors.
• Artists (the creative force behind music) are our units of connection.
• Musical closeness is our main metric.
• We don't use external correlates (e.g. advertising, artist popularity, or users' data*) in our models.
